Your data is always encrypted at rest and in transit. Lockdown gives you additional privacy by end-to-end encrypting specific meetings using an account lockdown password. To do so, click on "Account" (located in the bottom left hand corner of the Limitless App) > "Settings".

If you lose this password you will lose access to locked down meetings. We cannot reset your lockdown password.

The benefits of locking down:

• Data is end-to-end encrypted

• Data is protected from us

• Data is protected from subpoena

The downsides of locking down:

• Data is inaccessible without your password

• Data can't be searched

• Data can't be used for AI responses

What does end-to-end (E2EE) encryption mean?
End-to-end encryption (E2EE) is popular in chat apps like Signal and iMessage in which only the communicating users can read the messages. In E2EE, the data is encrypted on the sender's device and only decrypted on the recipient's device, ensuring that intermediaries, including service providers, cannot access the encrypted data. This type of encryption is used to enhance privacy and security in communication channels such as messaging apps, emails, and video calls. For Limitless, we offer end-to-end encryption of your data so even we, as service providers, don’t have access to the underlying data.

What is the primary goal of end-to-end encryption?

End-to-end (E2EE) encryption means better data protection. Our primary goal has always been to protect your data. At first, we used anonymization to do this, but we’ve found that end-to-end encryption is a more secure way to achieve the same goal.

Is all my data E2EE?
No, this is an optional feature, and we give you full control to E2EE each individual meeting.

What if I don't E2EE encrypt my meetings?
This is ok too. Your data is still encrypted at rest and encrypted in transit. E2EE encryption is an optional additional step to further secure your data.
